Universal Studios Japan opened in 2001, with a large number of American-styled attractions. The central shopping mall is covered by a large domed glass arcade. The glass panels are suspended by an exo-skeleton steel frame. As the site of a previous hazardous metal manufacturing plant, there are concerns of health.
