SeaGlass Carousel, New York

WXY and artist George Tsypin designed the Sea Glass Carousel in Manhattan, New York City. It was completed in August 2015 at a cost of $16 million. That’s right, it cost $16 million and took 10 years to build a $5/ride carousel ride. Only in New York…

The building swirls to suggest the rotation of the ride. Overhead lighting and illuminated materials give the affect of an underwater garden. Thirty over-sized fish provide a theme park experience and twist as the rotate to simulate how fish swim.
