LAUSD Central High School #9,Los Angeles California

Coop Himmelblau designed the Central Los Angeles High School #9 for the visual and performing arts in LA, California, completed in 2009.

Located on the side of highway 101, the swooping metal tower reacts to the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels tower on the other side. It also takes inspiration from the nearby Disney Concert Hall. The school for visual arts, dance, and theater also has a 1,000 seat auditorium.

I couldn’t find any answer for how the project was funded while California has been in a huge budget crisis.
