Da Monsta, New Canaan Connecticut

Philip Johnson designed the Da Monsta at his Glass House complex, completed in 1995. It was meant to be a visitor’s center but apparently has no purpose.

The wall is layered with a wire grid concrete form, styrofoam, and plaster. Johnson named Frank Stell’s Dresden museum as inspiration this warped form. German Expressionism is not exactly a source of Johson’s previous works.
