Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art, Gateshead Quayside UK

Ellis Williams Architects converted the Baltic Flour Mill into an art museum, at a cost of £50m. It was completed in 2002.

The Gateshead Millennium Bridge by Wilkinson Eyre crosses the River Tyne to reach the museum. The £22m bridge tilts to allow pedestrians across or to allow ships to pass. The modern art centre is northern England’s version of the Tate Modern in London.
