Jun Aoki designed the Aomori Museum, near the Towada Centre. Earthen walls rise up into the pure white bricks of this simple geometric building. Great blocks of white rise above the trenches and interact with the ground level to open up exhibition space. Small windows and lattice give minimal connection to outside.
It opened in 2006. |
