Paul Andreu designed Terminal 3 for the Dubai Airport. The white marble finish and gold trim on the columns decorate a light and open structure. Dubai’s airport Terminal 3 has the largest floor space of any building in the world. Yet The details are sleek, modern, and efficient, a post-modern reflection on Middle Eastern culture and an outlook on technological future.
Terminal 3 cost $4.5 billion and opened in October 2008. Its concourse will be completed in 2012. This is the 13th busiest airport by passanger traffic, yet Dubai plans to build a 4th concourse, that would bring capacity to 90 million people. |
