Marcel Breuer designed the Whitney Museum of American Art on 945 Madison Ave. at 75th Str. in New York City, completed in 1966. Renzo Piano concurrently developed a modern extension at the entrance to the high line.
The granite blocked building appears to step out into the street space. Trapezoid windows bump out into the exterior.
