Trump Tower, Chicago Illinois

The Trump International Hotel & Tower Chicago was recently capped and is finishing up selling units before it formally opens next year. The 92-story tower was significantly shortened following the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the world trade center in New York, perhaps a sign of fear that will forever dent this project’s reputation. It was supposed to to be the tallest building in America. Already the 2,000-ft tall Chicago Spire is under construction and will dwarf this project, already dwarfed by the Sears tower.

That’s too bad, because the tower is situated in the perfect location, on the river with fantastic views from all around. It’s flashy enough to get your attention right away. And I guess it is still the tallest residential structure in North America. Skidmore, Owings and Merrill designed this $200-million project.
