Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 3, Singapore

CPG Corporation & Skidmore and Owings & Merrill LP designed the Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 3 (T3), which opened in 2008. The 380,000-square-metre building cost $1.75 billion. This is just another addition to a well-loved airport which received 280 awards in a 20-year period from 1987 to 2007.

The metal ceiling has shutter devices to diffuse light from 919 skylights into the large space. The floor reflects that complexity, but the wall windows by contrast are simple grids.A five story green wall complements the natural elements to soften the massive commercial shopping area.

The nearby MRT station also adds a stunning modern touch to this busy and enormous airport.
