Pacific Design Center, Los Angeles California

Work just started on Cesar Pelli’s addition to the ritzy Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood, California. The brilliant blue reflective cladding and the enormity of size have earned this building the name “blue whale.” A wide variety of showrooms show off interior design products with an emphasis on furniture. It’s also a place for celebrities to hang out, with parties and two restaurants.

The 750,000 ft2 blue building opened in 1975, with a green addition in 1988, and a red addition still due this year.
