One Central Park, Sydney

Jean Nouvel designed the One Central Park tower in the new mixed-use park on Broadway street in Syndey. Vertical gardens by Patrick Blanc climb the sides of the building, as horizontal planters decorate the windows at each level, making it appear as a great hanging garden complex.

The cantilevered rectangle of mirrors reflect sunlight down into a void space cut out of the tower. Reflections from the lower tower are bounced back down into this void garden. At night, an LED art display by Yann Kersalé lights it up. The tower was completed in 2013, and has received numerous design award. But photos are hard to come by, because people aren’t actually all that excited about it.
