Mercedes-Benz Museum, Stuttgart Germany

UN Studio’s defining project, the Mercedes Benz Museum in Stuttgart, Germany derived its shape from the tri-swirling shape that also forms the Mercedes logo. The trefoil organization pervades this project from structure and program down to the details. The building spirals around a central atrium, taking the visitor on a journey through the history of automobiles. The displays overlap vertically to emphasize the geometric complexity of the architecture. In addition, the double helix rounded walls maximizes space and opens up views; round walls are always nice. The museum opened in 2006.
