Library, Augsburg Germany

Schrammel Architekten designed the City Bibliothek Neue Stadtbücherei on Ernst-Reuter-Platz in Augsburg. Light Trumpets designed the daylighting devices. Located in the middle of the historic city, the “open architecture” brings transparency for the people. A skylight of 400 mirrors directs light into the heart of the structure. Colorful interior design, colorful vertical shading devices, and double-skin glazing on the sides compliment this effort for natural light.

It’s a striking modern building in the historic atmosphere with an even more striking unifying element of light.
