Here’s a £12.5m extension to architect John Rylands Library by Austin-Smith:Lord. This extension to the library in Manchester abstracts the precedent neo-gothic 1900 Basil Champney library. This five story building expresses no subtlety as it links old and new, inside and out. It’s gotten at least one bad review, however.
