Halftecture, Osaka Japan

Considering that modern architecture has broken down design to structure components, like column, roof, or window, Endo experimented sought a new method by questioning the inside/ outside relationship. The visual containment from the rusty metal skin provides no exterior walls on two sides. The white interior walls don’t meet the ceiling. On the north side, curved sweeping glazing provides a more enclosed environment for eating. A decorative trellis adds more linguistic significance to this event.

Located in the heart of Osaka, the 2006 halftecture pavilion lies in a riverside park, overlooking the historic Osaka castle.
