Eames House, Pacific Palisades Los Angeles

Charles and Ray Eames designed the Eames Hous or Case Study House No. at 203 N. Chautauqua Blvd. Pacific Palisades in Southern California. It overlooks the coastal beach in a heavily wooded area. The Earnes conceive their home and studio as a case study of modern living, and enriched it with lavish interiors.

The Earnes went on to build 24 other case studies in the following decades, but this 1949 broke the most new ground. The slope of the site gave opportunity for a spiral stair and double-height living room. The avante garde colors and cubical glazing contributed to a new kind of modernist style.
